Akira Kurosawa and Noh. If you understand Kurosawa’s films, you will be able to find the strong connection between these two. Many stories of Kurosawa’s films are based on Noh as long as some costumes used in his films. The masks from Noh performances were also used to make character settings in his films also.
The Beauty of Noh was announced to be made from 1983. Kurosawa’s aim was to communicate the beauty of Noh and Japan’s tradition to the young people of today. Many traditional places of Japan were planned to be used for shooting, and even the script was finished, but the film was never completed due to certain reasons.
We are planning the revival of this film on stage as a Noh performance. A traditional Japanese temple will be the stage, and this performance will without doubt be one with great cultural and traditional importance.
Please feel free to take a look at this once in a 100 year event.
